North Ronaldsay water supplies back to normal
Scottish Water is advising customers on North Ronaldsay that they no longer need to boil their water before drinking or using for cooking.
The quality of the local supply has returned to normal.
The boil water advice can be lifted following discussions with the Consultant in Public Health Medicine at NHS Orkney.
Other parts of Orkney were not affected.
Derek Ogilvie, Scottish Water Operations Manager, said: “The boil advice was purely a precaution and I’m very sorry for the disruption it caused.”
Dr Ken Black, NHS Orkney’s Consultant in Public Health Medicine, said: “Protection of public health is paramount and the boil advice was a good precaution. Now that the quality has improved we can lift the advice.”
