OIC agrees funding for affordable housing

Orkney Islands Council has agreed funding arrangements to provide affordable housing in the county over the next two years.

At a meeting of the policy and resources committee yesterday afternoon, councillors voted to grant up to £215,000 from the general reserve fund to Orkney Housing Association Ltd (OHAL), along with £750,000 of government funding.

OHAL will now use the money to build 21 housing units, including 11 rented and 10 shared ownership properties by March 2015.
