OIC gives green light for Stromness pierhead project

Orkney Islands Council has agreed to award a contract for the work involved in the Stromness pierhead regeneration project.

The contract is expected to be awarded in late March, subject to ongoing negotiations with the preferred tenderer.

The project has a value of up to £3.86 million, including ancillary improvements works such as extending the areas being paved with local flagstone under the current Townscape Heritage Initiative.

It will bring a new Stromness Library and Council Customer Services as well as a police contact point under the one roof, and provide meeting space for community use.
