Opinions wanted as THI project draws to a close
An open day highlighting the achievements of the Stromness Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) takes place tomorrow, Monday.
With the scheme coming to an end this year, public feedback is being sought on the initiative, which aimed to deliver sustainable improvements to the built heritage of Stromness’s conservation area.
The overall budget for the scheme, excluding private owners’ contributions, was £3.5million, which was primarily provided by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Scotland and Orkney Islands Council.
This funding, says the OIC, resulted in a total public/private investment of £6.3 million into the town.
Monday’s open day, in the Stromness Town Hall between 1.30pm and 6.30pm, will give more information about the wide range of schemes and property projects that have been grant aided.
Meanwhile, a surveyseeking feedback on the scheme is available here until May 22.
