Orchestras unite for joint concert

The Orkney Orchestra and Orkney Schools’ Orchestra will join forces tonight for a concert, at which a special tribute will be made in memory of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.

Music by Haydyn, Mozart, Beethoven, Rimsky-Korsakov, Copland, Sullivan, Gershwin and Berlioz will be performed at the KGS Dining Hall, from 7.30pm.

In addition, a personal tribute will be made by The Royal Society of Musicians’ Professor John V. Jones, who has arranged the instrumental piece, Longhope, for the joint orchestras to perform in Sir Peter’s honour.
Doors open at 7pm.
