Orkney FC set to welcome Inverness Athletic in season opener

Orkney FC retained the Ness Cup last year as the club ended the 2015/16 season on a high.

Orkney Football Club is set to get their North Caledonian League season underway, with a historic first ever meeting against Inverness Athletic on Saturday.

Orkney will welcome Athletic to the Kirkwall Grammar School’s grass pitch as the visitors prepare to make their league debut having been formed earlier in the year.

The North Caledonian League has been boosted by the addition of Inverness and St Duthus, bringing the league up to eight teams this season.

Based at Inverarnie Park, ten minutes south of Inverness, Athletic have two pre-season victories under their belts against South Lochaber Thistle and Invergordon Social.

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm.
