Orkney FC title aspirations suffer major setback
Orkney Football Club’s title aspirations hang in the balance, after a Neil MacDonald penalty condemned the islanders to their third defeat of the season.
The 1-0 defeat to fellow title challengers Invergordon means Orkney drop to third in the North Caledonian League, behind the Ross and Cromarty outfit and Thurso, who beat Inverness Athletic 3-1.
MacDonald’s first-half spotkick sealed the win, leaving Orkney to contemplate a second league defeat to Invergordon this season, knowing they now face an uphill task if they are to win a first league title this season.
