Orkney medal success on final day of Island Games
Orkney athletes claimed more medals on the final day of competition at the International Island Games, in Bermuda, yesterday.
Thomas Fay added another silver and bronze to the silver medal that he claimed in the 10,000 metres earlier in the week. The latest medals both came in the men’s half marathon. He recorded a time of 1.17.08 to finish runner-up in the event while he and teammate Paul Kerr, who finished 13th in the individual event, were awarded bronze medals in the team event.
The additions mean that Orkney finish in 14th position in the medal table – ahead of the likes of  Åland, Greenland and the Isle Of Wight. Team Orkney claimed a total of six medals – one gold, four silvers and one bronze.
The Closing Ceremony also took place last night with the Orkney athletes due to travel back to the county over the next few days.
