Orkney Pony Club return to Horse of Year Show

An Orkney Pony Club team has qualified for the Pony Club mounted games final, for the Prince Philip Cup, at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) for the second year in succession.

The club, which is the furthest north branch of the Pony Club, will be going all out to try and make it to the final four of the competition this time around.

The Pony Club mounted games is one of the most popular and enduring entertainment displays at HOYS and will again feature throughout the week. The spectacle sees six teams taking part in a range of activities and, by the time they get to the show, the finalists will have all, through immense skill and determination, fought off over 250 other clubs nationwide to qualify.

The Prince Philip Cup started in 1956, with the aim to encourage a higher standard of riding throughout the Pony Club and to stimulate a greater interest in riding as a sport and as a recreation.
