Orkney and Shetland prepare for Scottish District Cup Final
Orkney and Shetland’s senior hockey sides will meet tomorrow afternoon in Glasgow, as they go head-to-head in a national final.
Arguably the biggest match in history between the two island groups, the two sides will battle it out for the Scottish District Cup at the National Hockey Centre.
Orkney, desperate to make up for last year’s final disappointment and add to their 2010 and 2013 successes, are heavy favourites, having not lost to Shetland since 2003.
Shetland meanwhile, are playing in their first District final.
As reported by the Shetland Times on Friday, it is a task in which the Shetlanders have sought out the services of a sports psychologist in order to end their barren run.
The match is set to be aired live on BBC Radio Orkney, starting at 11.45am, with live radio commentary on the usual frequency of 93.7FM.
