Orkneyinga Saga centre reopens its doors
The Orkneyinga Saga Centre, in Orphir, re-opens its doors today, Saturday.
The centre, which tells the story of the Norse Earls of Orkney, by way of interpretation boards and an audiovisual display, was formerly run by Orkney Islands Council but closed as part of the authority’s Tough Times Tough Choices cost-cutting measures .
However, the Orphir Community Council has now taken over the centre, a move that will see it open to the public again until the end of October.
The centre is near the Orphir kirkyard and the remains of the St Nicholas round kirk.
