Parts of Kirkwall town centre closed for repairs

Bridge Street and Albert Street are closed to vehicles this week (on a 24/7 basis) to enable flagstone repairs to be carried out.

From tomorrow, Wednesday, work is expected to also progress onto the top of Castle Street (where it joins Broad Street).

This will mean Castle Street and Broad Street will also be closed to vehicles during the working day (from 8am to 4pm), but will open overnight.

Pedestrian access is being maintained throughout these works.

Repairs will be temporarily covered to protect them while materials cure. It’s expected all the above roads will reopen late on Friday afternoon this week.

Orkney Islands Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
