Pentalina set to resume Pentland Ferries service

MV Pentalina departed Aberdeen on Tuesday night and is set to resume Pentland Ferries’ Pentland Firth service on Thursday. (Pentland Ferries)

The mv Pentalina has arrived back in St Margaret’s Hope and is set to return to service on Thursday.

Following mv Alfred’s grounding on Swona earlier this month, the Pentalina is set to take over the St Margaret’s Hope-Gills Bay route, with the first sailing at 7.45am.

The ship, which served on the route prior to the Alfred’s introduction in 2019, left Aberdeen on Tuesday night where it had been in dry dock.

After a brief stop at Gills Bay in Wick, it travelled across the Pentland Firth and arrived in the Hope on Wednesday morning.

The move to bring the Pentalina back into service follows the Alfred’s grounding on Tuesday, July 5.

The ship left Orkney at the weekend travelling to a Belfast dry dock where repairs will be carried out.
