Pentland Ferries moves forth with possible new venture
Pentland Ferries is in talks with Forth Ports and councils in Edinburgh and Fife over the possibility of expanding its business into the Firth of Forth.
The privately-operated ferry company, which runs an unsubsidised route across the Pentland firth, is looking at introducing a passenger ferry service between Burntisland and Granton.
Ideally, managing director Andrew Banks would like to use two vessels on the route ensuring a regular, all-day operation, with a crossing time of less than 15 minutes.
Commuters, shoppers and tourists would benefit, he says.
Mr Banks is currently in discussions over infrastructure for the ports.
