Picky centre users increase by 22,000
The number of people using the Pickaquoy Centre in Kirkwall rose by nearly 22,000 in 2010/11, on the previous year — which shows an upward trend over the last five years. And the overall usage figure of 226,289 was well above the target of 158,200.
Orkney islands councillors at yesterday’s meeting of the OIC education and leisure committee heard a review of the centre trust’s financial and usage performance for the year. The expenditure amounted to £1,140,841 for 2010/11, which was £73,345 less than in 2009/10. The trust made an operating surplus of £57,044 before pension scheme asset revaluations.
Councillors noted the figures.
