Vehicles damaged after equine encounter
Police are urging livestock owners to make sure that they have adequate roadside fencing to prevent any of their animals becoming a hazard to motorists.
The reminder follows an accident on Monday evening, in which two vehicles were extensively damaged after a car collided with a horse on the Old Finstown Road.
A police spokesman said that the vehicles encountered a group of five horses, between 5pm and 5.30pm, near the Cruan riding centre, on the outskirts of Finstown. The occupants of the vehicles were uninjured although two horses were hurt — with one having to be put down.
He added that their inquiries were continuing.
