Police warning as magazine advert scam returns
Police have repeated a warning to local businesses regarding a scam involving the sale of advertising space in a fictitious magazine.
The scam, which has been doing the rounds for some time, sees a caller, claiming to represent the emergency services, attempting to sell advertising space, or in some cases a subscription, to a non-existent police magazine.
As in previous incidents, businesses are reminded not to give out any personal or financial information, ask for a number on which to call the “seller” back and hang up the phone.
