Poultry classes cancelled following bird flu restrictions
After new restrictions last week to limit the spread of avian influenza, both the Dounby and East Mainland Shows are going to be without their poultry section this year.
They join the Shapinsay Agricultural Association which has made the decision not to have poultry at the show.
Following a meeting on Tuesday night, the West Mainland Agricultural Association released a statement saying that poultry classes will be cancelled.
It says: “Due to the ongoing restrictions in place to prevent the spread of bird flu, we have made the decision to cancel the poultry classes at the 2022 Dounby Show.”
“We will be in contact with exhibitors who have already sent in entries for these classes.”
On Tuesday night, the East Mainland Agricultural Association said they will also not be accepting entries in the poultry section, and that this applies to the pet section too.
