Queen Elizabeth arrives in Orkney
The prestigious cruise liner Queen Elizabeth dropped anchor in Kirkwall Bay for the first time this morning.
The vessel has a guest capacity of 2068, and a crew of almost 1000. The ship is the second largest Cunard vessel ever built, joining the fleet in 2010.
A group of Orkney youngsters who have been taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme will get the experience of a lifetime when they’re invited on board the ship today for an exclusive tour.
The ship’s master will also be presented with a plaque by a delegation from Orkney Islands Council.
