Recording heritage with a mobile phone…
Capturing memories, stories and special places, using simple technology, will be the basis of a new project over the summer months.
The Orkney Community Digital Heritage project, led by the Centre for Nordic Studies, invites community members to capture and share stories, placenames, information and memories about places and people in Orkney using a smart phone app.
The Centre for Nordic Studies will collate a single map, which will be gathered on a publicly available, interactive website.
For those who would like to take part, but don’t have a smart-phone or tablet, the Centre for Nordic Studies have some available that can be borrowed.
A workshop will be held at Orkney College, on Saturday, June 6, to outline the project and offer assistance to anyone wishing to take part.
