Orkney has benefited from an unexpected call from a small cruse ship today, due to bad weather further south.

A change in itinerary has seen the Sea Explorer, a small expedition cruise ship, arrive in Kirkwall.

The ship had been due to visit ports on the Scottish west coast, but is now expected to stay alongside in Kirkwall Pier until Sunday.

The vessel can carry 114 passengers, along with 72 crew.
