Recycling collection update from OIC
Orkney Islands Council is advising that recycling collections are likely to be affected by high winds over coming days.
Due to the risk of windblown litter, it is likely that paper and plastics won’t be collected. In light of this, the council is advising that residents consider instead taking these items to Civic Amenity Sites, or bagging them up (keeping different recyclates separate) for the next collection.
Operatives may also place bins on their sides after collections to reduce the risk of bins being blown into paths and roads.
Anyone due to put their bins out before Christmas is advised to regularly check the OIC Updates Facebook page for any further advice.
