Reel Reads campaign launched
The Orkney Library and Archive launches a new campaign today, Wednesday, July 10, encouraging readers to look behind the story of their favourite films.
‘Reel Reads’ has been created by the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC), and libraries in all 32 Scottish local authorities are participating. The Orkney Library and Archive has made a display of its books and films, hoping to inspire visitors. There is also a reading list of books that have been adapted for the big screen, which readers can use as a starting point for their summer reading.
SLIC Company Secretary and interim CEO, Moira Methven commented:
“Some of our favourite titles are Silver Linings Playbook and Warhorse and many people don’t realise that these great movies started life as a book that contains a wealth of information that didn’t make it onto the screen. With books adapted for movies, there is a style and genre to suit everyone’s summer reading needs”.
