Remanded after shoplifting and threatening police
A 28-year-old man has had his sentence deferred for reports and been remanded in custody after pleading guilty to shoplifting and threatening police officers.
Appearing from custody at Kirkwall Sheriff Court this afternoon, Carl James Howley, whose address was given as 1 Yetholm, St Margaret’s Hope, admitted the offences which took place on October 27.
The court heard that Howley, and co-accused Daniel Robert Kelk, 23, of Flat 3, Newerne, Holm Road, Kirkwall, stole six ready meals from the Co-op on Albert Street.
Kelk, who was released on bail, also pleaded guilty to shoplifting and had his sentence deferred until January 10, 2013, when he is due to appear in court on other matters
Howley also admitted threatening police officers at the charge bar of Kirkwall Police Station later the same day.
