Revellers advised to carry ID
With the Christmas party season fast approaching, young festive partygoers are reminded to make sure they carry proof-of-age identification with them — or they may find that they are unable to buy a drink.
As a result of new alcohol laws which came into effect on October 1, this year, anyone being served or sold alcohol must be asked for ID if they look under the age of 25.
Acceptable proof-of-age includes the PASS (Proof of Age Standard Scheme) card, a photographic driving licence, or a valid passport.
Anyone organising alcohol for events or taking party bookings at a venue should remind revellers about the new age verification requirements.
