Rysa takes Open Stage trophy

Today’s open stage competition saw local group Rysa take the top spot, with Freddy Pretorius and instrumental trio Mirka taking the runner-up positions.

The event took place in the Stromness town hall this morning as part of the Orkney Folk festival.

There were a total of 11 entrants to the competition – both solo acts and groups.

The competition also saw a performance from last year’s winners, Gleemro.

Four-piece Rysa includes Aaron Doull, from Holm, Murdo Graham, from Tankerness, Gemma Harcus from Kirkwall and Josephine DeGeer, from Stronsay.
