Scottish rugby legend to visit
School pupils from across Orkney will have the opportunity to meet Scottish Rugby ambassador, specialist coach and former professional player Chris Paterson, when he makes a visit to the county on Friday 5 October.
As part of his ambassador role for Scottish Rugby, Chris will be giving a talk on professional rugby and hosting a question and answer session at Kirkwall Town Hall. Primary Schools have been asked to nominate pupils from upper primary classes who have a committed involvement in rugby for a place at the session.
Chris Paterson played professional rugby for Scotland – and for the most part of his career – Edinburgh. He is Scotland’s record cap and point’s holder with 109 caps and 809 points and has played in a range of positions, including fullback, wing and fly half.
He retired from international rugby in December 2011 and as a professional player in May 2012.
