Search for missing fisherman continues
The search for a missing man is continuing at Boardhouse Loch, Birsay, today.
The body of one of two fishermen was recovered at the shoreline of the loch yesterday following a multi-agency search which included police, coastguard, the fire service and members of the local community.
According to police, there has been no official identification of the man found but the family have been informed.
Police Inspector Alicen Winston said: “In the unlikely possibility that the missing man was able to leave the water it is asked that landowners and residents of properties in the area between Loch of Boardhouse and Dounby are vigilant and check any outbuildings.”
The alarm was raised around 11.30am yesterday morning, when police were informed that two men, from the Dounby area, had not returned from a fishing trip on Tuesday.
Any person with information which may be relevant are asked to contact Kirkwall Police Station on 101.
