Search ends for missing person

Kirkwall Lifeboat was called out earlier today to join in with a search for a missing person in the Rousay area, however the person has now been found safe and well, and the search stood down.

Shetland Coastguard said that local Coastguard rescue teams were involved in the search, as well as police, who were co-ordinating the operation.

A spokesman for Police Scotland in Orkney said that they were grateful for the assistance given by various assets during the search.

• Meanwhile, at the other side of the Pentland Firth, Thurso Lifeboat was also called out today, to tow in a fishing vessel, the Kemarvin,  which had  a fouled propeller.
