Sports awards deadline

Local sportspeople have just days left to nominate their favourite club helper in this year’s sportscotland Orkney Coaching, Officiating and Volunteering Awards.

Nominations for the awards, which recognise the dedication and achievements of those who donate their time in local sports clubs, close on Friday, August 22.

There are nine categories to choose from, with winners attracting money toward coaching aids, equipment or up-skilling at their club.

Nominations can be made through Orkney Islands Council by contacting Kirsty Spence on tel (01856) 873535 ext. 2442 or by email kirsty.spence@orkney.gov.uk.

Alternatively a form can be collected from the OIC’s One Stop Shop in Kirkwall.
