St Ola hit back to hold two goal advantage
Kyle Drever, Shaun Raeburn, and Craig Drever fired St Ola to a 3-1 victory against Stromness in The Orcadian Parish Cup this evening.
Liam Martin put the defending champions ahead after 20 minutes, sidefooting home after a Trevor McConnachie deflected effort had hit the post.
Played out in a strong wind, and with Stromness playing down the slope at the Bignold in the first-half, the visitors could and should have been further ahead at half-time.
They were made to pay for their profligacy in the second 45 as a long range effort from Thorfinn’s Kyle Drever restored parity.
Raeburn put the 2014 winners ahead, before hesitation in the Stromness defence allowed Craig Drever to get the third on 90 minutes.
The result means that Stromness face an uphill task in the second-leg, scheduled to be played on Saturday, July 2.
