Stromness art student’s exhibition opens at the Pier

An exhibition of work by a Stromness undergraduate student opens at the Pier Arts Centre today, Saturday.

We Are Our Journey is by Norna Sinclair, Orkney College’s Fine Art Textile third-year undergraduate student, and is a core part of the Professional Practise Module for students at this stage in their degree course.

Norna’s exhibition focuses on ideas of journeying, and the relationship between time and space, with particular reference to Orkney’s rich maritime history.

She explained: “The exhibition forms a narrative that relates to our personal journeys, the line corresponds to our lives and, in its movements, delineates the ever-changing patterns of life through time.

“Holding this exhibition in the Pier Arts Centre is such a great privilege, and a really exciting time for me.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase my work, bringing it to the public domain.”

We Are Our Journey runs until Saturday, February 20.
