Stromness Coastguard called to assist diver
Stromness Coastguard was called into action yesterday when a female diver on board the Stromness boat Karin got into difficulty.
Shetland Coastguard was contacted at 1.20pm with a report that the diver was experiencing medical problems. The Stromness team was then deployed to Houton, where they met the Karin and assisted the woman on to an ambulance.
It is understood the woman received treatment in the hyperbaric chamber in Stromness for a short time.
Later yesterday afternoon, at 3pm, Shetland Coastguard recalled its helicopter, which was on exercise, after a vessel in Scapa Flow reported two missing divers.
However, shortly after, the vessel reported that the divers had been found safe and well, and the helicopter was stood down.
