Stromness take top spot on drama festival first night

The first night of the 2013 SCDA Orkney District One-Act Drama Festival got off to a flying start last night in front of a packed Kirkwall Arts Theatre.

Stromness Drama Club came out on top with their play Whodidit?, by Neil Harrison, a spoof murder mystery set in an English country house in the 1920s.

The Alan Bennett play, Say Something Happened, performed by the Kirkwall Arts Club (Third Age Players), and Birsay Drama Group’s version of Randy’s Reel, by Audrey Evans, were the other plays on offer, making for what adjudicator Dave Bennet described as “a varied and enjoyable evening’s entertainment.”
