Stronsay sailings cancelled
As a result of ongoing periods of adverse weather and tidal conditions over the past few weeks, a navigation buoy in Stronsay harbour parted from its moorings on Saturday, leading to Orkney Ferries announcing service disruptions to the island.
Captain Alistair Wylie from Orkney Ferries said this morning: “This makes the approach to the pier extremely hazardous and there will be no sailings to Stronsay until it is safe to do so.”
He added: “Orkney Marine Services are currently working at resolving this problem and it is hoped a fix could be in place before this evening.”
Passengers are advised to check the company’s website for updates on the sailing scheduled for tonight.
Orkney Ferries apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers.
