Superstation goes off air

The local commercial radio station Superstation Orkney has ceased broadcasting – with falling advertising revenue understood to be behind the closure.

The station, which stopped broadcasting at noon on Sunday, posted a message to Facebook a few hours earlier stating it was to go off air and thanking supporters.

Superstation Orkney was launched in 2007, originally broadcasting from the ship mv Communicator in St Margaret’s Hope.
