Sustainable procurement policy consultation
Feedback is being invited on a new draft policy which sets out the approach Orkney Islands Council will take to ensure sustainability is a core consideration in the procurement of work, goods and services.
The proposals, which go out to consultation today, Wednesday, are designed to ensure that sustainability is considered at each stage of the procurement process.
In line with the Scottish Government’s Sustainable Procurement Action Plan, the policy sets out how procurement decisions should take account of the social, economic and environmental impact on the people and communities of Orkney.
A copy of the draft sustainable procurement policy is available on the OIC website. The consultation runs until July 23.
Paper copies are also available from Colin Morton at Orkney Islands Council on 873535 ext. 2363 or by email to procurement@orkney.gov.uk.
Responses can be emailed to procurement@orkney.gov.uk or posted to Gary Butler, procurement manager, Orkney Islands Council, School Place, Kirkwall, Orkney KW15 1NY.
