Threats to MPs investigated by police

Northern Isles MP Alistair Carmichael is one of a number of politicians reported as having received threats.

Police in Scotland have confirmed they are investigating threats after they were sent to a number politicians last week.

Chief Superintendent Craig Naylor, of Police Scotland said: “I can confirm that a number of threats were sent to several politicians on Friday evening, and which have been reported by them or their staff.

“Police are following a positive line of enquiry. Appropriate advice has been given concerning personal safety and security for the politicians, their families, staff and premises.”
