Treadmill challenge for Sichel
Orkney ultra-marathon runner William Sichel could find out today if he has set a unique new running record.
William, from Sanday, is one of six ultra-distance athletes competing in the first World Challenge 48-Hour Treadmill in France, which is due to end today.
The main focus for athletes is the existing 48-hour treadmill record set by Ireland’s Tony Mangan, who recorded 251.80 miles.
William’s challenge comes ten years after he set a Guinness World Record for the greatest distance run on a treadmill in 24 hours — 112.46 miles.
