Two arrested in connection with serious sexual assault inquiries
Arrests have been made in connection with two serious sexual assaults which are alleged to have taken place in Orkney, police have confirmed.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged incident at St Magnus Lane, Kirkwall on Saturday, August 13.
In relation to a separate incident which is alleged to have taken place in Muddisdale Loan, Kirkwall on Sunday, August 14, a 16-year-old male has been arrested.
Police are not linking the two cases.
Both males have been released pending further investigation.
Inspector David Hall said: “We understand the concern both these reported incidents have caused to the local community, and I want to offer reassurance that following these two arrests, our extensive inquiries are continuing.
“Anyone with information or concerns can contact us via 101, or approach any officer on patrol in the local area.”
