Upper Cornquoy’s Cheviot ewe is named supreme sheep champion
The supreme sheep at the 2017 County Show was a three-crop Cheviot ewe, shown by J. & J. Smith, of Upper Cornquoy, Holm.
The sheep was out of a home-bred ewe and sired by Durran Norseman.
Speaking shortly after judge Davie Kirkpatrick picked his winner, Alan Smith said: “I’m absolutely delighted.
“We’ve shown here for a lot of years and we’ve never had a champion in the section, never mind the inter-breed, so it was a lot more than I was expecting today.”
He added: “We always enjoy the County Show, but this one is special.”
The overall reserve this year in the inter-breed section was a Texel from L. S. Flett and Co., Nistaben, Harray.
The Milnbank-bred two-crop ewe was by Razzle Dazzle and out of a Templand ewe.
