Whirlwind start sets Orkney FC on road to vital victory

Joe Wilson handed Orkney an early lead, tapping the ball into the net after the goalkeeper had parried a DJ Moffat header.

Orkney FC claimed a vital three points this afternoon, beating Invergordon 2-0 and cutting the deficit at the top of the North Caledonian League.

Two goals within the first seven minutes, the first a Joe Wilson tap-in and the second a header from Craig Gillon, put the home side on the road to victory against a disappointing Invergordon side.

The win means that second-placed Orkney are six points behind Invergordon at the summit, having played two games less.

Orkney’s next match is a home fixture against Thurso next Saturday.
