Pallet Garden and Scarecrow Competition, St Andrews Community Centre
St Andrews Community Association are hosting a pallet garden and scarecrow competition, this Sunday, July 9.
Folk out east will be getting their creative thinking caps on and coming up with imaginative designs for both. All entries will be displayed in an exhibition from 2pm — 4pm at St Andrews Community Centre.
Wheels Within Wheels, The Loft Gallery, St Margaret’s Hope
A new body of work by Angelica Kroeger and Sheena Graham-George will be exhibited at the Loft Gallery, St Margaret’s Hope, starting tomorrow, Saturday, July 8.
Wheels Within Wheels is a painted and drawn interpretation of Sheena’s journey by bicycle round Scotland last October.
Angelica’s photographs capture the essence of the journey — the memories, the colours, and the fleeting impressions.
200 Years of Diaries: Responses, Orkney Library and Archive, Kirkwall
Stomness Writing Group have created a series of fictional responses to the 200 Years of Diaries project which has recently been on display at the libraries in Kirkwall and Stromness.
They will be reading out their finished work in the Carnegie Room at Orkney Library & Archive, tomorrow, Saturday, July 8, at 2pm, alongside the exhibition of genuine diary entries.
Vanguard Commemorations, St Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall
Musicians from the Royal Marines will make a poignant return visit to Orkney this weekend, where they will play at a special concert as part of the HMS Vanguard commemorations.
The concert at St Magnus Cathedral on Saturday, July 8, will be performed by the Music Ensemble and Corps of Drums from the band of the Royal Marines.
