Picky’s new pool opens to the public

The Pickaquoy Centre’s new swimming pool and health suite open its doors to the public today, Saturday.

The main pool sessions will offer a variety of sessions including inflatables, public swimming, lane swimming and a free Aqua Zumba session.  The Leisure Pool will be open all day for public use along with the health suite.  Jungle World and the squash/racketball courts will be available, with equipment provided free of charge on the day.

The new pool is significantly larger than its predecessor and includes six lanes with a moveable floor.

According to the leisure centre: “This gives a more versatile space for activities such as swimming lessons and aqua aerobics, where the whole pool floor can be set at the most appropriate depth for each activity.  It can also tilt to give a traditional shallow and deep end.

“The leisure pool offers a river rapid, small slide, toddler pool and poolside Health Suite.  Complemented by the village changing area, the new facility will be more family-friendly and offer a wider range of options.”
