Motorists in the West Mainland are reminded that roads around Stromness, Sandwick and Stenness will be busy overnight, with fundraising walkers out on CLAN’s 2013 Monumental Midnight Walk.

The event which starts at midnight, in Stromness, will see over 150 walkers set off at midnight to tackle a 5, 14 or 23 mile walk that will route around historic sites including the Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae.

Karen Scott, CLAN’s islands co-ordinator, said: “Last time we saw hundreds of walkers take part in what was a truly special night for all involved and we’re looking forward to a similar success this year.

“Throughout the walk itself, a real sense of camaraderie and togetherness is apparent and this very much shadows the comfort and support that CLAN demonstrates on a day-to-day basis.”
