Absent vote signature refresh

Forms will be sent out shortly to people on the electoral roll in Orkney who vote by post or proxy so that they can provide an up-to-date signature.

Only those who applied for an absent vote prior to January 30, 2010 will be affected.

In order to ensure accuracy and security, the Electoral Registration Office is required by law to request a fresh signature for applications which have reached a certain age.

Refresher forms will begin arriving today, Thursday, with a deadline of September 11 for returning them. If responses have not been received by then, the absent vote will then be cancelled.
