Cinema’s digital upgrade goes smoothly

The New Phoenix Cinema has screened its first film using a brand new NEC digital projector.

The new projector has replaced the 35mm projector which has been in use at the cinema since its opening in 1999.

According to cinema staff, the installation of the digital projector and first screening, which took place on Wednesday went “very smoothly, with no hitches.”

The cinema upgrade also includes, a new silver screen, a Masterimage 3D system and a new Dolby CP750 sound processor.

The first 3D film to be shown will be Jack the Giant Killer on Friday evening.
