Emergency services called to Stromness Harbour

The emergency services were called to the pier next to Stromness Marina in the early hours of this morning, Friday, after reports of a man falling into the water.

A police spokesman said that the police, ambulance, coastguards and the RNLI were involved in the incident, which was reported to them at 12.40am.

The man, in his 50’s, was recovered from the water and transferred to the Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall by ambulance, with no apparent injuries.
