Flotta clean-up cost to be examined

The cost of cleaning up the site of Flotta oil terminal after decommissioning – and whether the private sector could also contribute – is set to be examined.

The projected £32.2million bill to the public purse from the forecasted decommissioning of Flotta oil terminal is to be put under the microscope.

External auditors are to examine the provision made in Orkney Islands Council’s accounts for the clean-up and also gauge the prospect of the cost being shared with the private sector.
