Funding boost for community projects
Proposals to develop four children’s playparks are among the projects which have received a funding boost from Orkney Islands Council’s Community Development Fund (CDF).
Members of the CDF sub-committee have approved funding of up to £47,350 to South Ronaldsay and Burray Development Trust to refurbish the Hope playpark in St Margaret’s Hope. They also agreed to provide up to £14,432 to Sanday Community Association and up to £16,350 to Rousay School Parent Council to refurbish their playparks. The Holm Community Association will also receive up to £5,050 to resurface its playpark.
The sub-committee also agreed to offer funding of up to £42,888 to Stromness Golf Club to convert a redundant tennis court to a coaching and practice area for junior golfers.
Birsay Community Council also received up to £38,728 to create a combined car park, picnic area and information point in Palace Village.
As a result of all the available funds being fully committed, the CDF is now closed to new applications.
